Heaton Park Synagogue Attack: One Victim Appears to Have Been Fired Upon by Police
In a tragic development, a victims lost during the Manchester synagogue attack is believed to have been shot dead by law enforcement personnel.
Police Announcement Reveals Gunshot Wound
The chief constable from the local force stated that a forensic expert has provisionally determined the man died of a bullet injury.
“Overnight, we have taken advice from the Home Office pathologist ahead of detailed autopsies scheduled for later today. The expert indicated that he has provisionally determined one of the deceased victims would appear to have suffered a injury matching a gunshot injury.”
Suspect Details
The assailant, Jihad al-Shamie, was not carrying a gun, and the only shots fired were by the police officers on site.
It is believed the deceased was among those behind the synagogue door seeking to prevent the assailant from gaining entry.
Outcome of Intervention
“It follows therefore that subject to further forensic examination, the wound may sadly have been sustained as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the necessary rapid response taken by my officers to halt this brutal assault.”
Names Released
Both individuals killed in the attack at Heaton Park synagogue located in Manchester earlier this week had been named as Adrian Daulby, aged 53 and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.
These individuals lost their lives when a car was used to ram into the property of the local Jewish place of worship, before the attacker targeted attendees in a six-minute rampage that concluded after armed officers shot at him twice, ending his life near the synagogue entrance.
Additional Injuries
Three others sustained major injuries in the violent act on the Day of Atonement, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
Watson said, “Medical professionals have informed us that another injured person now hospitalized has also suffered a firearm injury, which is fortunately non-fatal. Officials think the two individuals were near each other behind the synagogue door, as worshippers acted bravely to stop the assailant from getting inside.”

“We extend our condolences remain with all of the families, and broader public, touched by this incident across Greater Manchester and beyond. Trained personnel are offering aid and assistance for everyone involved, including the courageous emergency teams.”
Attacker Profile
Authorities identified the perpetrator as Shamie, 35, a UK national of Syrian origin.
Local law enforcement said that three other people – two male suspects and an older female – had been detained “on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist activities”.
